French consumer brand Thomson eyes Rs 600 crore revenue from India in FY19

"French consumer electronics brand Thomson that made a re-entry into the Indian market in FY19 through its television business is eyeing revenues of Rs 600 crore this financial year. In an interaction with Moneycontrol, Avneet Singh Marwah, CEO, SPPL (exclusive licensing partner of Thomson) said they have already seen sales of 30,000 units in June within 45 days of the launch. "We are anticipating a good growth in sales in the upcoming festive season and will also be launching new models for the market," he added."

32-inch plus TV sets to get costlier in festive season on supply shortage, rupee’s fall

"This festive season, get ready to pay more for a new television with a screen bigger than 32 inches. The reason: the increase in price of TV panels due to a supply shortage, following a sudden rise in global demand. Panels account for about 70% of the cost of a TV. This, coupled with a weaker rupee that drives up import costs, will force companies to increase the price for TV sets beyond 32 inches, TV manufacturers said. Still, they are likely to absorb part of the increase in raw material costs."

"French brand Thomson launched its new affordable smart and 4K UHD TV line-up in the Indian market on Thursday to take on Xiaomi's Mi TV 4 and Mi TV 4A. Thomson's 32, 40 and 43-inch TVs offer Android and start at Rs 13,490 for the 32-inch HD+ 32M3277 model, going all the way to Rs 27,999 for the 43-inch 4K UHD 43TM4377 model.
